Ashley and Andre // A Rustic Glam Sundance Resort Wedding

I’m CRAZY excited to share this wedding with you guys today. It’s been sitting in my post draft lineup for a week or two, waiting patiently for its moment in the spotlight, but now I can share it because today it has been featured on the one and only Ruffled Blog! Go check it out. :)

I had the pleasure of traveling back to Salt Lake City at the end of August to shoot Ashley and Andre’s wedding, almost exactly a year after we moved away. When I initially got the inquiry from Ashley, shortly after we moved, I was so bummed because I thought for sure she would move on to another local Utah photographer when she found out that I would now be traveling from Alabama. But much to my delight, she said she wanted ME to be there, so I ended up getting to returned to the promised land, as Jamie likes to call it. I knew I would love this couple right off the bat, because Ashley said the word of the day would be “candids.” They aren’t big on the formal posed portraits, and they loved my candid shots, and heck, I love TAKING candid shots, so we were a perfect match from the beginning. Then they told me about their pugs Lola and Denzel, and how they get to sleep in the bed (just like Gretchen does with us), and how they love watching Dexter together and singing the theme song at the beginning (which I have SO done many times, despite the fact that there are no words to sing- it’s just so catchy! And it makes me crave breakfast food. Duh.).

But the real icing on the cake was when I showed up at the Sundance Resort on that Saturday afternoon with Sam and Ashley showed us her dress- a PINK Vera Wing. And when Ashley told everyone that she took a photo of Joan from Mad Men to her stylist and told her that that’s what she wanted to look like on her wedding day? Well, I knew it was going to be a good day. :)

I have to give a HUGE shout-out to Sam and Mike of KanzlerFoto, who are good friends of ours and who also were a huge part of my growth as a photographer last year in Utah, when we second shot for each other all summer. They not only rocked it as second shooters, but also let me crash at their place all weekend. It was definitely a blast from the past. :) Several of the shots below are theirs!

So let’s dive right in, shall we?

Loooove that Ashley’s engagement ring stone was a ruby instead of a diamond. You’ll soon see that both Ashley and Andre LOVE some pink. ;)

I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen a cuter picture of a dog. Denzel and his sister Lola came pretty close to stealing the show with all their adorable-ness.

Andre’s wedding day gift to Ashley…

Ashley was a little unsure about doing a First Look, but she was SO thankful she did on the wedding day. She said it made her so much less nervous AND we were able to get some pretty awesome portraits of the two of them in gorgeous light. :) Plus… how sweet is this?!

GORGEOUS. GORGEOUS. GORGEOUS.

I think Ashley succeeded in getting that redheaded bombshell Joan-inspired look, don’t you? I mean, WOW. What a smokin’ couple.

Y’all, the light during their ceremony could NOT have been more perfect.

Many, many, MANY thanks to Ashley and Andre for inviting me to be a part of your gorgeous, intimate, and FUN day! And to Mike and Sam for being great second shooters and company. AND to all the other incredible vendors involved, including:
