Erin and Brian have such a sweet story. They met for the first time in fifth grade, when they decided to be boyfriend and girlfriend. On a class field trip to the planetarium later that year, Brian told Erin to keep leaning forward so he could whisper something in her ear, and instead planted a kiss on the side of her head so hard she nearly fell out of her chair. How’s that for romantic? :) Years passed, and in high school and college the two of them fell in and out of touch, but then, in 2010, Brian began to pursue Erin again and asked her out, and they went out on a date and have been inseparable ever since. After some time living in different cities and traveling back and forth to see each other, they both moved back to their hometown of Montgomery, Alabama. Brian even proposed in the same planetarium where they had their first kiss. LOVE IT.
I was excited when Erin first sent me an inquiry and told me they were getting married at Hampstead Farms in Montgomery. I love getting to shoot at venues I’ve never been to before because everything is a surprise, and Hampstead was a very PLEASANT surprise! It actually is part of a planned community, where they have their own little shops and restaurants (even a Montessori school!), and where all the houses are built to have different features and unique character. It was so neat! The farm is actually an urban farm initiative, where members of the neighborhood can come together to grow things, and where they can supply local restaurants with produce. Super cool.
I also just adore Erin’s style. She put a modern, fresh take on a classic Southern wedding, and Mary Margaret and I just found ourselves squealing with delight when we saw everything. (Or maybe that was just me. Huh.) We also had an absolute blast hanging out with Erin and Brian and their incredibly fun wedding party. (If you guys are reading this, thank you for welcoming us right in. You guys were great!)
But for now, on with the photos! Huge thanks as always to my wonderful friend and fellow photographer Mary Margaret Smith for helping me out and capturing some of the shots you’ll see below.
I have to give a huge shout out to Michelle Johnson and her team for their AMAZING floral work. I literally *gasped* when I saw Erin’s bouquet. Absolutely stunning and a joy to photograph! Thanks Michelle!
We LOVED this group of girls. So much fun!
Erin, you were a breathtaking bride. Wow.
Handsome!
One thing I loved about Brian is that he’s definitely a guy’s guy. His baby is a BMW he has been rebuilding (he wanted to have it for the wedding, but didn’t quite finish in time and was pretty bummed :( ). BUT, when he saw Erin coming down the aisle, he just melted in tears. It’s easy to tell she has that effect on him, and it was such a sweet thing to witness.
Also? This was one of the sweetest first dances ever.
Erin and Brian, thank you both so much for allowing me to be part of your day. I <3 you both!
Gail - Oh Morgan, did you just DIE over this wedding? SO much I’m in love with! Those bridesmaid dresses are AMAZING, the florals are perfect (and seriously, they even match Erin’s eyes! That’s perfect!) What a gorgeous, soft, sweet romantic wedding. One of those weddings I see and think, “If I could do it over again, I’d love a look like this :) ” Hope this gets published on a style blog — it certainly deserves to! xoxo G
Kelly - I love all of the bride and groom portraits and the details! I can tell by the number of images you were pretty fond of this one as well :)
Amanda Formosa - I teared up when I saw the picture of the bridal party praying over the bride. What an amazing moment!! My second favorite is the picture the couple over the umbrellas. Oh, and I would have to agree, INCREDIBLE flower arrangements! :)
Cat - Every.single.one. of your posts has a “holy shit” shot that stops me in my tracks and makes me to punt my camera out a window. Bride in the curtains? Holy shit. THE END! <3
